The Democratic-led Senate will next week take a vote to codify Roe v. Wade, Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a New York Democrat, said Thursday. Schumer announced a planned Wednesday vote in a tweet, following news that the Supreme Court looks poised to overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade abortion-rights decision. The measure appears poised to fail, as it would require 60 “yes” votes and the Senate is evenly split between Democrats and Republicans. An effort in February got only 48 votes in the Senate.
