U.S. officials have evidence that Russia has developed a plan to use a faked video to create a pretext for an invasion of Ukraine, according to multiple published reports Thursday citing unnamed American officials. The video likely would depict graphic scenes of a staged false explosion with corpses, actors depicting mourners, and images of destroyed locations and military equipment, and gear used in the fabricated attack will be made to look like it’s Ukrainian or from allied nations, said a USA Today report. The White House last month had said Russia was mapping out a “false flag” incident in eastern Ukraine as a pretext to invade.
