Cavalcante was said as of early Tuesday to have been armed and considered dangerous, having reportedly stolen a weapon from a resident’s garage and been fired on by that resident.
He was seen on surveillance video, discovered after his escape, bridging two walls with his body and walking vertically backward up that wall to escape a prison yard.
He was the subject of a massive manhunt for some two weeks.
