Movers & Shakers: Airbnb and Blackstone shares rise on S&P 500 inclusion, and other stocks on the move

Here are some of the most notable stock moves ahead of Tuesday’s open.

Stock gainers:

Shares of Blackstone Inc. BX, -1.77% rose 4%, while shares of Airbnb Inc. ABNB, +0.87% were rising 5% after S&P Dow Jones Indices announced that both names would gain inclusion into the S&P 500. The changes take effect before the start of trading Sept. 18.

American Express AXP, +1.03% stock rose 1%, as RBC Capital Markets upgraded its view on the Dow industrials component to outperform from sector perform, while downgrading Synchrony Financial SYF, +1.18% and Bread Financial Holdings BFH, +3.06%.

Stock losers:

Newell Brands Inc.‘s stock NWL, +1.23% and Lincoln National Corp.‘s stock LNC, +2.14% fell after-hours on Friday after S&P Dow Jones Indices said that those names would be getting the boot from the S&P 500.

Albemarle Corp. shares ALB, +0.78% fell 1% after the board of Australian lithium miner Liontown Resources Ltd LTR, -2.46% said it plans to support a $4.25 billion offer.
