President Joe Biden on Wednesday urged parents of young children to get them vaccinated, a day after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention granted children aged 5 to 11 access to the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer PFE, -1.39% and BioNTech BNTX, +2.05%. The decision marked the first opportunity for U.S. children under 12 to get the protection of any COVID-19 vaccine. Speaking at the White House, Biden said vaccines would be available at 20,000 locations across the country, including schools and community health centers. “You can now protect them from this horrible virus,” Biden said of young children. The president also addressed a stunning loss by the Democratic candidate in Virginia’s gubernatorial election and said voters want the party to “get things done.”
