Eli Lilly & Co. LLY said Thursday its tirzepatide achieved up to 15.7% weight loss in adults with obesity or overweight and type 2 diabetes in a late-stage trial. Participants in the phase 3 trial called Surmount-2 lost up to 34.4 pounds, the company said in a statement. The company expects to complete its submission for the drug in the coming weeks and expects regulatory action by as early as late 2023.
