KT Corp. 030200, -0.60% named Kim Young-shub, 64, as its new chief executive officer, after the position was left vacant for more than eight months.

The South Korean telecom giant said in a statement Wednesday that its extraordinary shareholders’ meeting approved Kim, a former CEO at the LG conglomerate’s IT services affiliate, LG CNS, as its top executive.

Kim’s appointment put an end to KT’s leadership vacuum caused by the board’s failure to name a new CEO due to a lack of consensus since December 2022.
