Comcast Xfinity outage ensnares multiple cities across U.S.

Households in several states are reported to be affected by a widespread outage of Comcast Corp. CMCSA, -0.06% Xfinity services Tuesday. There have been at least 54,000 reported outages Tuesday morning, according to Downdetector, which broadly tracks user reports of service outages. Reports indicate that users in San Francisco, Chicago, Philadelphia, and other cities have been ensnarled by the outage. Comcast didn’t respond to a MarketWatch request for comment on the scale of the outage or expectations for when service would be restored. Shares of Comcast are up 0.5% in Tuesday trading but they’ve declined 7.7% over the past three months as the S&P 500 SPX, -0.32% has risen 5.6%.
