: Caterpillar’s stock surge is a big reason why the Dow is up

Shares of Caterpillar Inc. CAT, +6.50% shot up 5.1% into record territory in morning trading Tuesday, enough to pace the Dow Jones Industrial Average’s DJIA, +0.10% gainers, after the construction- and mining-equipment maker reported big profit and revenue beats.
